This is a modified version of the Old Time tune of the same name. The banjo is an instrument developed in North America by the enslaved people who carried their craft skills and musicianship from West Africa. Their creation shares similarities with instruments like the akonting played by the Jola people of Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau.
